LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field team was back in action in Lincoln, Neb. On Saturday competing at the Mark Colligan Memorail hosted by Nebraska.
DISTANCE
"We were real happy with how the crew ran today. They ran events they don't get to run as often and they all put in a great effort, competed well, and ran fast." Head Distance Coach Scott Dahlberg said, "A lot of personal bests today which was encouraging for everyone coming off big races last night. This is good momentum and prep for next weekend."
Katelyn Mitchem posted a third place finish the women's 800M clocking a time of 2:14.34 while Kaylee Kearse finished seventh with a time of 2:17.77. On the men's side Oisin O'Gailin won the 800M while Joseph Rodgers finished second with times of 1:54.01 and 1:54.84 respectively. Albert Steiner and Asefa Wetzel also finished in the top ten at sixth and seventh respectively.
The Cowboys had a solid outing in the mile run led by Seth Bruxvoort and Mason Norman who finished fifth and sixth respectively. Trevor Stephen and Cooper Brown finished just behind them in seventh and eighth respectively.
In the women's 400M Gabby Drube finished just inside the top ten placing ninth with a time of 1:00.13. On the men's side Carson Kaminski finished eighth clocking a time of 52.31.
THROWS
"Mary Carbee stood out today hitting a mark that was well beyond her previous best on the first throw of the comp." Said Assistant Coach Carrie Lane
In the Women's shot-put Addison Henry led the way finishing second with a toss of 47-4.25. Cossette Stellern finished just behind her in a tie for sixth while Jordan Christensen finished eighth. On the men's side Daniel Carrillo finished ninth with a toss of 51-2.25. Nathan Ried finished just behind him in tenth with a mark of 49-7.
Mary Carbee was the Cowgirls top finisher in the weight throw finishing fifth with a throw of 59-9.5. Henry had her second top ten finish of the day, finishing eighth with a throw of 55-7.75.
SPRINTS
In the men's 60M hurdles Caige McComb was the lone Cowboy to make the finals running a 8.60 in the finals to finish seventh.
Carter Wilkerson ran to a tenth-place finish in the men's 200M clocking a time of 22.75 to earn his tenth-place spot.
JUMPS
"The jumpers competed well today especially coming off a competitive day on Friday." Head Jumps Coach Quincy Howe said, "They are on the verge of some big performances and I am pleased with their resolve to keep pushing their individual limits."
Shayla Howell continued her impressive streak in the women's Long Jump finishing second amongst a very competitive field with a leap of 19-1.5. Sadie McMullen finished just behind her in fourth with a mark of 18-5.75. On the men's side Hunter Brown led the Cowboys finishing sixth with a leap of 23-2. Alec Richardson finished just behind him in eighth with a leap of 22-0.25.
Bryson Engebretsen was the lone Cowboys to compete in the men's pole vault clearing a height of 13-10 to finish fourth. On the Women's side, Kayla Stibley matched that fifth-place finish as she cleared 11-6.5.
In the men's high jump the duo of Pete Mead and Samuel Schneider led the way finishing sixth and seventh clearing heights of 6-7.5 and 6-5.5 respectively. Sage Coventry finished in ninth after clearing 6-3.5.
In the women's Triple Jump Aumni Ashby finished fourth after recording a leap of 38-8.75. For the Cowboys, Jefferson Danso finished sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 46-4.75.
