LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 9, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirl golf team wraps up the regular season this weekend in Albuquerque, N.M., at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The event is scheduled for Sunday and Monday at The Championship Golf Course.
"We are looking forward to returning to the UNM Championship Course after a few years off," head coach
Josey Stender said. "It is a championship level course layout and the field is the most competitive we will have seen all spring. I'm very proud of the work ethic and progress the team has made over the last few weeks so I expect they will rise to the challenge."
The two-day tournament is set up on the Par-72, 6,317-yard The Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico. Play is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. MT on Sunday with 36 holes of play while the third round is also set for 7:30 a.m. on Monday.
Along with the Cowgirls, the 12-Team Tournament field features Arizona, Colorado State, Denver, Grand Canyon, Kansas State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, UNLV and Washington

Cristiana Ciasca will compete as an individual.
The last time Wyoming competed in the event was 2013 when UW totaled a 326 (+38) during the final 18 holes for a three-round mark of 957 (+81). Their best round of the tournament was a +23 (311) in the second round. Pepperdine won the tournament with an 11-under three day total of 865. The Cowgirls were led by former Cowgirl Emily Wood who carded +15 (234) in the event. She was followed by Samantha Stancato who posted a 241 (+22).
Last time out, the Cowgirls moved up two spots in tough conditions on the final day of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic to finish tenth. UW fired a final-round 307 to finish the event with a 51-over 915 after 54 holes. They were led by Skavdahl who finished her tournament with a 79 in the final round to tie for 31
st with a 10-over 226. It was the highest finish of her career at the event. Zapf moved up six spots to finish in a tie for 45
th with a three day total of 13-over 229 (80-72-77). Sargent completed her tournament with a 15-over 231 (77-77-77) to finish in a tie for 53
rd.
Ryan, competing as an individual, carded a final round 7-over 79 for a three round total of 16-over 232. She was followed by Hui who had a three day score of 17-over 233 after a final round of 5-over 77. Junior
Michelle Nguyen turned in a third round score of 5-over 77 for a total score of 18-over 234 (77-80-77). Ciasca was the biggest mover on the day, shooting a team best 4-over 76. She completed her tournament in a tie for 69
th with a total of 18-over 234 (81-77-76).
