LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 3, 2021) – The University of Wyoming men's and women's diving teams head to Colorado Springs for the Air Force Invite over the weekend. Wyoming will compete against Air Force, BYU, California Baptist, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State and Utah.

Ted Everett said. "The divers have been working really hard and I am starting to see some real improvement. They should feel pretty confident even though we will be going against some tough competition. Every team in the meet has really talented divers. I am hoping that the kids will step up to handle that type of a high pressure environment."
Competition will start at 10:30 a.m. MT on Thursday, with the women's 3-meter followed by the men's 1-meter. Action will continue on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 1-meter event and the men's 3-meter. The meet will conclude on Saturday with both competing on the platform.
Last time out, the divers competed against Hawaii and UNLV in their final duals of the season.
Melissa Mirafuentes paced the way for the Cowgirls in the 3-meter. She finished first with a season-high score of 313.50.
McKenna Houlihan was fifth with a total of 259.05 while
Makena Sanger posted a career-best 209.00.
Abigail Zoromski went 208.75. In the 1-meter,
Brendan Byrnes led the way with fifth place finish and a score of 285.20.
Juan Gonzalez followed in sixth with his score of 279.10 after six dives, while
Elijah Chan recorded a mark of 255.10 to finish in eighth.
In the 1-meter, Mirafuentes finished first with a season-best score of 297.40. Houlihan was fifth with a total of 236.10. Sanger posted another career-best 216.85 and Zoromski went 213.65. For the Cowboys, Byrnes was the top scorer with a fifth place finish and a score of 289.60 in the 3-meter. Chan followed in sixth with his score of 269.00 after six dives, while Gonzalez recorded a mark of 263.25 to finish in eighth.
Following the Air Force Invite, several individuals will participate at the First Chance Meet, Fri.-Sat., Feb. 12-13 in Denver, Colo.
