"We were real close to finishing a few spots higher as a team, but overall I am really pleased with the way the guys came out and competed in our first tournament of the season," said
Joe Jensen, University of Wyoming Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach.
"Kirby (Coe-Kirkham) had a really nice tournament, and he had a chance to finish even higher. He had really good looks on 16, 17 and 18 on Sunday but couldn't quite get a couple of putts to fall.
"Obviously, Dan (Starzinski) lit it up today. He shot the low round of the day. Also a good tournament by Carl (Underwood), who began the tournament with a great round and finished with a Top 20 finish.
"I feel really good about the foundation that we've put in place after the first event of the season. We had a lot of good things happen this weekend. We have a lot of positives to take out of this tournament."
The tournament was played on the Eisenhower Golf Club Blue Course at the Air Force Academy. The course measured 7,511 yards and played to a par of 72. The next event on the Wyoming Cowboys' schedule will be the Ram Masters Invitational hosted by Colorado State on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 16-17.
