Laramie, Wyo. (Sept. 5, 2019) -- The Wyoming Cowboy golf team will tee off for the first time for the 2019-20 season when they travel to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the 51st Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. The 54-hole tournament will be played Friday-Sunday, Sept. 6-8 at the Eisenhower Golf Club Blue Course on the United States Air Force Academy campus. The tournament format will include an 18-hole round on each of the three days.
Returning Cowboys
Wyoming returns seven Cowboys from last season's team, including six players who competed for Wyoming throughout the season and one redshirt freshman. The seven returners include: senior
Dan Starzinski, junior
Carl Underwood, sophomores
Kirby Coe-Kirkham, Jimmy Dales, Jared Edeen and
Tyler Severin. Redshirt freshman
Liam Clancy also returns and will be competing for the Cowboys for the first season.
Senior Starzinski will lead the Cowboys in 2019-20 after enjoying an outstanding junior season last year. He captured individual medalist honors at the 2018 Ram Masters and had four Top 10 finishes in 2018-19. His 71.77 stroke average in 2018-19 tied for the third best in school history.
Three other returning Pokes also posted Top 25 finishes in 2018-19. Those three were: Coe-Kirkham (4 Top 25 finishes), Severin (2) and Underwood (1).
New Addition
The Cowboys welcome one new member to their team for the 2019-20 season. The newest Cowboy is junior-college transfer
Bryce Waters from Odessa Community College in Texas. Waters finished 16th at last year's NJCAA National Tournament and qualified for and participated in this past summer's U.S. Amateur National Championship.
Lost but Not Gone
The only loss from last year's team is 2019 senior
John Murdock, who graduated following an outstanding collegiate career. But Murdock isn't totally gone as he will serve as Wyoming's Graduate Assistant Coach for the 2019-20 season.
