The Wyoming Cowboys will face a national field of teams this coming Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28 at the William H. Tucker Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico at the UNM Championship Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.

Among the teams competing will be: four Mountain West teams in host New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming; and three PAC-12 teams in Arizona, Colorado and Utah.  East coast teams Coastal Carolina and Florida Atlantic will join Kansas and North Texas and other western schools in BYU, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico State, and UTEP to complete the field of 15 teams.

Wyoming is coming off a second-place finish out of 17 teams in its most recent tournament -- the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo.  In that tournament, Wyoming had three individuals finish in the Top 30, led by sophomore Kirby Coe-Kirham's 16th-place showing.

Cowboys Finish in Top Five in Both 2019 Fall Tournaments
In each of its first two fall tournaments this season, Wyoming has finished in the Top Five teams.  The Pokes placed fifth out of 18 teams at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational to open the fall season.  UW followed that up with a second-place finish out of 17 teams at the Ram Masters Invitational.

Kirby Coe-Kirkham Posts Back-to-Back Top 20 Finishes
Sophomore Kirby Coe-Kirkham has posted back-to-back Top 20 finishes to start the 2019-20 season.  He tied for sixth place at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational to open the year, and followed that up with a 16th-place finish at the Ram Masters Invitational.

Team Balance Has Been Key to Early-Season Success
Balance has been a key to the Wyoming Cowboys early-season success.  Through their first two fall tournaments:

•Four members of the 2019-20 team have already recorded at least one Top 25 finish this season.  Those four are: Kirby Coe-Kirkham, Tyler Severin, Dan Starzinski and Carl Underwood.

•Five Cowboys have each posted the low round for the Cowboys in at least one round of tournament golf this season.  Those five are: Kirby Coe-Kirkham, Tyler Severin, Dan Starzinski, Carl Underwood and Bryce Waters.

•The same five individuals have also had at least one round in the 60s thus far this season.

Coaches' Corner
Quotes from University of Wyoming Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach Joe Jensen.

"Coming off a solid second-place finish at the Ram Masters Invitational, we're excited to get back on the golf course.  This week's tournament -- the William H. Tucker -- will feature a really strong field of teams.  The Tucker is always a national field.  We're excited about seeing some new teams for the first time this year.

"The UNM course is a really, really good championship level golf course.

"I think we're going in to this third tournament having some very good balance on our team.  We've been hovering around the top of the field in both our first two tournaments, and we've done some things well, but we certainly have things to work on.

"This will be a new test for us, and I'm looking forward to seeing how our team responds.  We have some confidence, and we want to go play well this week."
