FT. COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 24, 2019) – The Wyoming women's golf team recorded its second straight top five finish in as many tournaments at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Ft. Collins. The team wrapped up the tournament with a 39-over 903 to finish in a tie for fourth on Tuesday afternoon. It's the second highest finish for a Cowgirl team at the Ram Fall Classic and the best under head coach Josey Stender.

Sophomore Samantha Hui was the low Cowgirl on the team's final day. After first round scores of 78 and 72, she carded a 3-over 75 for a combined score of 225. She would move up three spots to tie for a career-best 16th place finish.  Following close behind was junior Caitlyn Skavdahl who shot a final round season-best 3-over 75 for a three day total of 10-over 226.

"I'm pleased with the entire effort of the team to grind it out today," Stender said. "Some things just didn't go our way but they didn't give up and played with resilience. We have a quick turnaround before we host but we will really enjoy this fourth place finish."

Senior Erin Sargent was the other Cowgirl to finish in the top 25 for the tournament. She would post a third round 3-over 75 for an 11-over 226 and tied for 22nd.  Sophomore Cristiana Ciasca closed out the tournament with a 9-over 81 and a three-day total of 230, while fellow sophomore Michelle Nguyen wrapped up the day with a 5-over 77 and a combined score of 236.

Individually, freshman Morgan Ryan turned in a 7-over 79 third round with a total of 234 and in a tie for 39th place. Fellow freshman Jessica Zapf improved eight shots from Monday to Tuesday with a final round of 5-over 77 to card a combined score of 238. Senior Kaylee Knadler closed out the tournament with a 9-over 81 for a three-day total of 244.

New Mexico State took home the team title with an 890 (+26), followed by Colorado State (+31, 895) and San Francisco (+33, 897). The Cowgirls and Cal Baptist finished in a tie for fourth (+39, 903).  Lexi Perry of Boise State took home the individual title with a 1-over 217 followed by Abbi Fleiner of Northern Colorado with a 2-over 218.
