"Today was a nice day once we got started," said
Joe Jensen, University of Wyoming Director of Golf. "Frost on the course delayed play, but the conditions were very good once we were able to tee off.
"For us as a team, our youth showed today. I'm seeing some good things, but we had some double and triple bogeys and those add up. We are still within striking distance of several teams, so we just need to go into tomorrow with a positive attitude
"We're getting tournament rounds in on a very good golf course this week and there is nothing that can replace playing tournament rounds under the pressure of competition.
"There are good rounds of golf ahead of us this spring, and as I told the guys after today's round that tomorrow is another opportunity for us to get better."
The final of three 18-hole rounds of the 2019 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate will be played on Sunday.
The Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate is being hosted by the University of Wyoming at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. The Classic Club measures 7,305 yards and plays to a par of 72.
