Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i (Nov. 3, 2018) --  The Wyoming Cowboys shot an eight-over par round of 292 on Saturday and are in 13th place out of 20 teams, heading into Sunday's final round of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Maui, Hawai'i.  Wyoming will enter that final round with a 36-hole total of 572 (+4),  The Cowboys top two individuals after 36 holes are senior John Murdock and freshman Kirby Coe-Kirkham.  Murdock is tied for 39th place with a two round score of even par 142.  Coe-Kirkham is tied for 48th at 143 (+1).  Cowboy junior Dan Starzinski shot the best round on Saturday for the Pokes, with an even par round of 71.  He is tied for 79th overall, with a 146 (+4) through 36 holes.

California leads the tournament at 541 (-27).  The Bears hold a three-stroke lead over second place North Florida, who sits at 544 (-24).  South Carolina and Georgia are tied for third at 550 (-18), and West Virginia rounds out the top five at 551 (-17).  All five teams entered the tournament ranked in the Top 40 teams in the country by Golfstat.  Cal was ranked No. 26 and North Florida was No. 27.  South Carolina at No. 34, Georgia at No. 16 and West Virginia at No. 39 all shot outstanding second rounds on Saturday.

The Cowboys played with North Florida and Gonzaga in Saturday's second round.  North Florida shot the best round of any team on Saturday, firing an 18-under par round of 266.

"We didn't play a great round today, but we didn't have anyone put up a really big number either," said Wyoming head coach Joe Jensen.  "I need to get a little more from our veteran players.  John (Murdock) had a good round going, but wasn't able to finish strong.  I felt like all the guys played hard, we just couldn't get a really low number by anyone today.

"We really want to have a strong round tomorrow and get good leadership from John (Murdock) and Dan (Starzinsk) and have the young guys play with some confidence.  We still have a chance to finish with a good tournament against a really outstanding field of teams."

Wyoming's individual scores on Saturday ranged from Stazinski's even par 71, to a two-over par 73 by freshman Jimmy Dales, to rounds of 74 by both Murdock and Coe-Kirkham, to a four-over par 75 from sophomore Carl Underwood.

Andrew Alligood of North Florida holds the individual lead at 132 (-10).  He fired an eight-under par 63 on Saturday.  Four other individuals are tied for second place at 133 (-9), just one stroke back of Alligood.

The final round will tee off on Sunday, at 12:30 p.m., M.T.
