Parker, Colo. (Oct. 8, 2018) -- The second round of the 2018 Paintbrush Invitational hosted by the University of Denver was suspended due to darkness on Tuesday. The second round will be completed on Monday morning, followed immediately by the final round.
After conclusion of the first round, the Wyoming Cowboys were in ninth place out of 12 teams in the tightly-packed field. The Cowboys opened with a first round 307 (+19). Sophomore
Carl Underwood shot the lowest round for the Pokes, finishing the first 18 holes with a three-over par round of 75 to tie for 23rd. Senior
John Murdock concluded the first round with a four-over par round of 76 to tie for 27th. Junior
Dan Starzinski and freshman
Kirby Coe-Kirkham finished tied for 41st at six-over par 78. Rounding out the starting lineup for Wyoming was freshman
Jimmy Dales, who posted a first round of 84 (+12).
Three of the Cowboys completed their second round. Murdock and Starzinski both recorded one-over par rounds of 73 to finish with two-round totals of 149 (+5) and 150 (+6). Underwood shot a round of 79 (+7) and finished with a 36-hole total of 154 (+10). Coe-Kirkham and Dales were unable to complete their second rounds due to darkness.
Two Cowboys are playing in the Paintbrush Invitational as individuals. Freshman

Jared Edeen finished with rounds of 79 and 78 for a 157 (+13) total.
"We had to battle the elements in the first round today, and we didn't play the way we normally do," said head coach
Joe Jensen. "We came back and played much better in the afternoon, and I was pleased with the progress me made in the second round, shooting about 13 shots better when play was suspended. Kirby (Coe-Kirkham) and Jimmy (Dales) still have to finish their second rounds in the morning.
"Dan (Starzinski) and John (Murdock) both shot 73 in the afternoon, and that was a good number.
"Weather is going to be a factor again tomorrow, so we have to prepare for that. It is another element for a young team to deal with, wearing full rain gear and learning how to battle the elements in those conditions. We did adjust in the afternoon round, and I was encouraged by the way the guys made those adjustments.
"We're going to have a team meeting tonight and to see if we can chase some teams down tomorrow."
The tournament is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The 2018 Paintbrush Invitational is being played at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo. The day one yardage was 7,465 yards and the final round yardage will be 7,513 yards. The course plays to a par of 72.
