The University of Wyoming Cowgirl swimming team cruised past Mountain West rival New Mexico, 162-95 Thursday evening in Corbett Pool. The Cowgirls won all 14 swimming events with 10 different Wyoming swimmers winning an individual event.

"The goal tonight was to win every event and New Mexico gave us some great runs," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "We knew New Mexico had some great sprinters, but our girls really held their own."

Senior Claudia Carlson, Junior Emily Ridout and freshman Maria Harutjunjan each won two events to lead the Cowgirls. Carlson won the 200 butterfly with a mark of 2:09.28. She also won the 200 individual medley clocking in at 2:09.86. Ridout won the 50 freestyle with a mark of 23.60 and the 100 freestyle at 52.93. Hartutjunjan took home both the 100 and 200 breaststroke crowns. She recorded a time of 1:04.61 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:19.96 in the 200 event.

"Emily had a really great day today and really battled out there," Johnson said. "Maria swam very well tonight and we are trying to find another event for her."

Junior Nicole Hlavacek took home the 1,000 freestyle with a mark of 10:36.62. Junior Emily Stucky took the title in the 200 freestyle with time of 1:55.17. Junior Keara Chang swam an impressive race in the 500 freestyle taking the event with a time of 5:12.76. Chang's time was six seconds faster than second place.

Sophomore Abby Sullivan won the 100 backstroke at 57.76 edging out senior Jordan Denny. Freshman Kelly Sheldon won her first career event in the 200 backstroke clocking in at 2:06.39. Junior Molly Coonce won the 100 butterfly at 56.53.

The Cowgirls' 200 medley relay team of Denny, Harutjunjan, Coonce and Ridout cruised to a win to open the dual clocking in with a time of 1:44.56. Wyoming pulled off a win in the 200 freestyle with the quartet of Ridout, Danielle Badger, Melanie McDonough and Stucky winning the race with a time of 1:35.80.
