During the season’s opening dual against MW rival New Mexico, McDonough was a part of the 200 freestyle team that won the event with a time of 1:35.80. She was on the 200 freestyle relay team that won against New Mexico State. She earned the victory against New Mexico State in the 50 free with a time of 23.68 and seventh in the 100 yard butterfly. At the MW Championships, she finished 18th in the 100 backstroke with a final of 56.00 and placed25th in the 50 freestyle as well as being a part of the fifth place 200 freestyle relay team and fourth place 400 freestyle realy team.Junior (2013-14): McDonough appeared every meet for the Cowgirls in her junior season. At the Mountain West Championship she swam a season-best 23.78 in the 50 freestyle finishing 24th. Also at the MW Championship she swam a season-best 51.57 in the 100 freestyle. Against UIC she won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.02. The following day she placed second in the race against UIC and Northwestern at 24.31.Sophomore: (2012-13): As a sophomore, McDonough was able to compete very well for the Cowgirls during her second season with the program. Not only was she able to prove individual success, but was also a key component to the freestyle relay teams. She was a part of the All-Mountain West 200 freestyle relay team, as she helped the Cowgirls to a third place-finish. She picked up six first-place finishes on the season, the first against CSU in the 400 freestyle relay. Against Air Force, McDonough was a part of the 200 freestyle relay first-place team at the Houston Invitational she recorded her personal-best in the 50 free with a time of 23.42. Against Northern Colorado, she may have had her best meet of the year with two first-place finishes by being a part of the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay and against Denver she was also a part of the 200 medley relay that recorded a first-place finish.Freshman: (2011-12): Like many of the Cowgirls true freshman in 2011-12, McDonough competed very well when she made it into the pool. She added excellent depth to the Cowgirl sprint-freestyle events. Her best meet came during winter training at the Citrus Classic recording three top-five finishes. In the 400 freestyle relay, she helped the Cowgirls to a second-place finish with a time of 3:37.88. In the individual sprint-free events, she finished fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.15 and also fifth in the 100 free (54.74). At the Northern Colorado-Colorado School of Mines Triangular, she finished in the top five in one relay and two individual events. She helped the 400 medley relay team to a victory with a time of 4:02.02. Individually, in the sprint free events, she touched the wall in third of the 50 free with a time of 25.19 and finished the 100 free in fourth (55.57).High School: McDonough joins the Cowgirls from Frisco High School in Frisco, Texas. She also swam for Frisco Aquatic Club. She earned letter awards all four years of high school in swimming. McDonough was named All-State in 2010 and 2011. Also during the 2010-11 seasons she helped her 200 medley relay team to a state record time of 1:48.00. She set team and pool records in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 100 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 100 backstroke. She was also a NISCA High School All-American in the 50 free.Personal: McDonough was born on Aug. 27, 1993 in Victorville, Calif. She is the daughter of Daniel and Diana McDonough, both of whom swam at the University of South Carolina. She has an older sister, Danielle, and a younger sister, April. She is majoring in management.
