Mizzou Invite Day 1 Results
Columbia, Missouri –
Wyoming swimming and diving sits in
third place after the first day of competition at the Mizzou Invite. The
Cowgirls tallied 191 points while the Cowboys finished the evening with 208.5
total points.
After day one, the
Missouri women lead with a score of 436, followed by Illinois with 225 points.
The Cowgirls are in third with 191 followed by Mountain West foe UNLV with
145.5 points in fourth. On the men's side, the Tigers also lead with a score of
518. Drury is in second with 221 points, just ahead of Wyoming with 208.5.
"Our morning was a
bit rough, but the team bounced back in a really great way tonight," UW head coach TJ Johnson said. "Everyone
had a great night. We had some fantastic relay races, Maria Harutjunjan and
Alanna Dassoff swam much faster than they did last year, and Samantha Burke
also had a great day. Jacob Porter was outstanding in the 100 fly today. The
divers were terrific against a really competitive field. Tomorrow we'll get
back out there and hopefully perform as well as we did today."
Junior Maria Harutjunjan placed seventh in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.78. Junior Alanna Dassoff placed 12th in the event, finishing in 2:05.46. Sophomore Samantha Burke also notched a seventh-place finish, recording a time of 55.88 in the 100
butterfly.
Freshman Seth Borgert logged a personal-best time in the 500 freestyle, placing fifth in 4:30.74. The
men's 400 medley relay, comprised of junior Wade Nelson, senior Gabe Rooker,
junior Jacob Porter and junior Kyle White, accomplished a program-best time of
3:14.31 to place fifth. Nelson also recorded the sixth-best time in the 200 IM
of 1:50.15. Porter placed seventh in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.32.
The second day of competition
begins with preliminary races Friday at 9 a.m. MT.
