Biography

Junior (2016-17): Harutjunjan made history in her junior season, becoming the first women's swimmer in the Mountain West to swim a sub-minute time in the 100 breaststroke... Her record-setting performance came at the 2017 Mountain West Championship, where she won the event for the third-consecutive year... After finishing second in the 200 breaststroke in her sophomore season, Harutjunjan broke through in 2017 to claim her second individual championship... Named an All-Mountain West honoree in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and also as a member of the 200 and 400 medley relay teams... Placed 40th at the NCAA Championships in the 100 breaststroke... Became just the fifth Cowgirl to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships in back-to-back seasons, and the first since Kelsey Conci (2011-12) to qualify in the same event in consecutive seasons... Twice named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week... Named to the Academic All-Mountain West team.
 
Sophomore (2015-16): Harutjunjan was one of three Cowgirls to take part in the NCAA Championships, as she competed in the 100 and 200 breast. At the NCAAs, Harutjunjan finished 45th in the 200 breast the event with a time of 2:13.14 and Harutjunjan 32nd in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.81. Harutjunjan ended her sophomore season as the record holder in the 100 breast (1:00.21), and had a great MW Championship meet for Wyoming. She repeated as the 100 breast champ at the MW Championships by winning the event in a time of 1:00.21. It not only set a school record, but also became the MW all-time record and was the 27th-best time in the nation at the time. Harutjunjan earned All-MW honors in the 100 and 200 breast. She also was a member of the 400 medley relay squad at the championships, which holds the top time in UW history at 3:35.86. Harutjunjan was named the MW Swimmer of the Week on Jan. 12 after she was a member of the 400 medley relay team that brought home a victory against Denver. She also won the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.76, before taking second in the 200 breast event. She was a kep part of helping the Cowgirls cliam it’s first-ever win over a Pac-12 opponent in Arizona State. She won both the 100 and 200 breast against the Sun Devils with times of 1:03.38 and 2:16.26, respectively. In the same events, Harutjunjan took second in both at the Purdue Invite. 
 
Freshman (2014-15): Harutjunjan had an excellent freshman season for the Cowgirls as she competed and won a number of events for UW. After wrapping up her first season, she went on to compete in the World University Games. She was the MW champ in the 100 breaststroke and also earned All-MW honors in the 200 breaststroke and the 400 medley relay. Harutjunjan set two top-10 marks in the Cowgirl record book this season. Harutjunjan once again won the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:05.24 and took second in the 200 breaststroke at Boise State. She helped defeat the defending WAC Champions Northern Arizona by winning the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.15 and as a part of the 200 medley relay team that finished with a time of 1:43.90. She brought home another victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.76. She was on the 400 medley relay team that broke the Corbett Pool record with a time of 3:47.53. She won two events competing against Air Force, as she won both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes with times of 1:04.39 and 2:19.90, respectively. She was part of the 200 medley that took home a victory against Air Force with a time of 1:45.46. Harutjunjan impressed during her first Border War dual, she won three events for the Cowgirls in the 100, 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Harutjunjan won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke against New Mexico with times of 1:04.61 in the 100 and 2:19.96 in the 200 event. To end a great freshman season, Harutjunjan was also named to All-MW team in the 100 breaststroke and was a part of the 200 yard medley relay team that took fourth at the Championships.
 
High School: She is a graduate of Audentes Sports High School. She excelled outside the pool, as well as an active member of the Estonian Armenian Youth Union.
 
Personal: She is the daughter of Varuzan Harutjunjan and Agavni Srapian. She has one sister, Piruza,and one brother, Avetis. She was born on September 17, 1995, and is majoring in international studies.
