The University of Wyoming men's swimming and diving team won ten of the total 16 events on its way to victory over No. 14 Utah on Saturday afternoon. The Pokes claimed the dual by a score of 173-127 in Green River, Wyo.

UW got off to a great start by winning the 200 medley relay. A tandem of George Eglesfield, Gabe Rooker, Kyle White and Bryce Carter took the event with a final time of 1:30.68. Ryan Ball took second place in the next event. He swam a 9:32.70 in the 1,000 free, before Slade Sheaffer won the 200 free for the Pokes. Sheaffer finished with a time of 1:41.77, while Jack Herron took third with a mark of 1:42.82.

"It was a great win for us," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "I was very pleased with the number of events we were able to take this afternoon. Plenty of guys came ready to swim. We had a couple days off, so I was a little worried coming into this meet after the Purdue Invitational. I thought we competed very well from the start. I'm thrilled to walk out of here with a win, we knew Utah would be ready to compete and give us a fight."

Rooker brought home another victory in the 100 breast. With a final time of 54.68, Rooker finished just ahead of teammate Kyle Scalise. Scalise had a time of 56.46 for second, while Liam Holt ended the event in third place with a time of 57.58.

The Pokes went 1-2-3 in the 50 free, as Carter, White and David Murphy had the top times, respectively. Carter had a mark of 20.70, while White touched the pads at 20.75 and Murphy finished with a 21.31. Carter claimed the 100 free with a time of 46.54, as White took second in the event.

Ball won the 200 backstroke for Wyoming. His time of 1:49.16 proved to be the top time before Rooker brought home another victory. Rooker won the 200 breast with a top mark of 2:02.05. Scalise finished second in the event behind Rooker.

Austin Rettinghouse won the 3-meter diving event for the Pokes. He had the top score of 357.61, while Jacob Rehmeier took third with a score of 298.05. Rettinghouse finished second in the 1-meter competition, as Rehmeier took fourth.

Ryan Nelson had himself a solid afternoon. He won the 200 IM (1:53.30) and also took second place in the 200 fly and 500 free. Wyoming completed the dual with a victory in the 400 free relay. A team of White, Rooker, Liam Metzsch and Carter swam a 3:03.71 to help seal the victory for the Pokes.

"We had great fan support today," Johnson added. "I want to thank Green River, it was a great turnout by this community and if it continues there is no question we'll be back."
