Biography

FRESHMAN (2016-17): She started out the fall with a 5-4 overall mark in singles. Her first career win came against Whitney Williams of Abilene Christian (9/30/16). Genkova finished her freshman campaign 19-8 overall, 14-4 in dual play and closed out the spring on a nine-match winning streak. Went undefeated in MW play (3-0). In doubles action, she went 12-10 overall with seven different playing partners. Had a 5-1 record with Magdalena Stencel and 2-1 in MW action.  An Academic All-MW, MW Scholar-Athlete and ITA Scholar-Athlete selection.

HIGH SCHOOL: A three-time regional champion while twice winning a Plovdiv city championship. Genkova was also named the 2015 Plovdiv Athlete of the City. She won the under 18 doubles national championship in 2015 and twice placed third at the under 18 national team championship in singles. Has placed first in five tournaments over the past two years.

PERSONAL: Born May 20, 1997 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She is the daughter of Grigoriy Genkov and Dimitrina Genkova. Majoring in finance.
