Biography

2023-24 (Graduate): Morgan Ryan played the best golf of her Wyoming career in the fall of 2023.  She posted three Top 25 finishes, including an 18th-place finish at the Pat Bradley Invitational to conclude the fall season.  That was her highest finish as a Cowgirl, and her tournament total of 220 (+4) was her career low score.  Ryan’s other two Top 25 showings were a 23rd-place finish at the Payne Stewart Memorial and a 24th at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational.  Her 74.42 stroke average for the fall was the best of her career and was the best on the Cowgirl team during the fall season.  Her round of 69 (-3) in the second round of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational marked her lowest career round.  Ryan enters the 2024 spring season having played in 34 of 37 stroke-play tournaments during her Wyoming career, and she has four career Top 25 finishes entering the spring season.  
 
2022-23 (Senior): Ryan competed in all 11 stroke-play tournaments for the Cowgirls during the 2022-23 season.  She had her best finishes of the season in back-to-back outings at the Silicon Valley Showcase and the Mountain West Championship, tying for 27th at both events.  Ryan had a season best single round score of 71 (-1) in the opening round of the Mountain West Championship.  Her best three-round score of the season came at the CSU Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic where she shot a 221 (+5).  Ryan posted a record of 1-2 at the Mountain Classic Match Play.  She finished the year with a stroke average of 76.70 over her 30 rounds of play.  Ryan earned Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors for the third time in her career.  She completed her bachelor’s degree in international studies in May of 2023.
             
2021-22 (Junior): Ryan played in every tournament during her junior season.  She posted stroke average of 79.9 through 30 rounds on the season.  Ryan had an outstanding performance at the Mountain Classic Match Play event going 3-0 in her matches and powering the Cowgirls to a sixth-place finish.  She recorded her best finish of the season at the Mountain West Championship where she tied for 38th with a three-round score of 233 (+17).  Ryan earned Academic All-Mountain West honors for the second time in her Wyoming career.
             
2020-21 (Sophomore): She participated in six of seven tournaments during the season.  Ryan had an 80.62 stroke average over 13 rounds during the season.  She posted a season best round of 76 (+4) at both the Southern Utah Thunderbird Invitational and the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.  Had a season-best finish of 20th at the SUU Thunderbird Invitational, shooting a 153 (+9).  Followed up her season best performance by taking 66th at the BYU Spring Classic with a 165 (+21).
             
2019-20 (Freshman): Ryan appeared in three out of five tournaments during the fall of 2019 before the spring season was cancelled due to COVID-19.  She played at the Hobble Creek Classic, CSU Ram Fall Classic and the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate.  Ryan finished the year with an 81.33 stroke average in nine rounds of play.  Her highest finish came at the CSU Ram Fall Classic with a 234 (+18) to finish in a tie for 39th.  Fired her season best round of 73 (+2) in the second round of the Hobble Creek Fall Classic.  Ryan earned Academic All-MW and Scholar Athlete honors here freshman season.  She was also named an All-American Scholar by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
             
High School:  Ryan joined the Wyoming program after a successful career at Grandview High School in Aurora, Colo.  She was a four-time letterwinner in golf at Grandview, where she racked up a number of individual and team accomplishments .  She was an All-Conference selection in the Centennial League in 2016, 2017 and 2018.  In 2018, Ryan took second at the Colorado 5A State Championship after capturing co-medalist honors at the 2018 5A Southern Regional.  She was named First Team All-State in 2018, along with taking All-City honors, as well.  Qualified for the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur Championship in 2018.  Also qualified for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Optimist International Junior Championships.  An excellent student, she was named to the Academic All-State team and earned an academic letter every year in high school.  Ryan was a JGAC Academic All-Star in 2016, 2017 and 2018, while being named an AP Scholar and earning a spot on the Les Shwab Academic Team in 2018.  She was a member of the Medical Careers Club for three years and served as an elected officer in the Spanish Honors Society in 2018
             
Personal: Born in Denver, Colo., to parents Wendy and Scott Ryan.  She has two sisters, Caroline and Lindsay.
