2012-13: Derrious Gilmore was the only Cowboy to start all 34 of Wyoming's games in 2012-13. His 12.4 points ranked second on the team, while his 2.9 assists led the team. He also added 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Gilmore tied for the team lead with 23 games in double figures, including a team-high five games with more than 20. He notched a career-high 26 points twice, reaching the mark at Boise State on Feb. 9 and at Colorado State on Feb. 2. He finished the season ranked in the top 10 of four Mountain West statistical categories, including eighth in assists. He ranked fourth in threes per game (2.3) and three percentage (36.7), as his 79 makes and 215 attempts both ranked third in UW single-season history. He also ranked second in the MW in minutes at 34.2 per game, after playing all 40 minutes in five games during the season. He made a career-high six threes in three games during the season, which tied for eighth in UW single-game history.
2011-12: Gilmore played in 24 games and made one start for Wyoming in 2011-12, despite missing nine games due to academic issues in the middle of the season. He averaged 3.1 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists a game as the backup point guard. Gilmore's top performance of the season was 18 points and four rebounds at Idaho State on Dec. 22. He went 7-of-10 from the field and 4-of-6 from deep against the Bengals in a season-high 29 minutes. Gilmore made one start during the season, playing 20 minutes against Northern Colorado on Nov. 15. He dished out three assists three times during the season.
Before Wyoming: During the 2010-11 season, Gilmore averaged 12.3 points, 6.2 assists and 1.8 steals a game for Jones County Junior College. He ranked No. 26 in the nation in assists among all division I junior college players. He was also a threat to score from three-point range, as he knocked down 44.7 percent (46-of-103) of his threes. The Jones Bobcats finished 15-10 in 2010-11 and earned a berth in the Region 23 Tournament. For his efforts, he was named Second Team All-MACJC (Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges). His coach at Jones was Don Skelton.
A native of Baltimore, Md., Gilmore attended Lake Clifton High School where he earned multiple All-City and All-State honors, while helping his team to two city and one region championship. Following high school, he spent his freshman season at Pensacola Junior College in Florida, but transferred to Jones County after a coaching change at Pensacola.
Personal: Gilmore was born on Feb. 6, 1989 in Baltimore, Md., to Charles Gilmore and Darcell Taylor. He is majoring in social science at Wyoming. He was also recruited by South Florida, West Virginia and Nebraska.
