LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 5, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls hit the road Saturday for round one of the Border War with Colorado State. The Cowgirls and Rams will tip for the penultimate time as conference members at 2 p.m., in Fort Collins.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming is coming off a 58-51 loss Wednesday night at home to New Mexico. A tough second quarter proved to be the difference in the loss as the Cowgirls shot better from the floor than the Lobos. Malene Pedersen led all scorers with 17 points, her 42nd consecutive game scoring in double figures. Henna Sandvik and Peyton Wohlford added nine points each. The nine points, on three 3-pointers from Wohlford, were both career-highs for her as the UW bench provided 18 points. Payton Muma led the way with five assists, her fifth game this season recording five-plus assists.
Jane Rumpf recorded another three blocks in the contest and is now averaging 1.62 blocks per game during Mountain West play, a mark that leads the league. The Cowgirls assisted on 14 of their made shots Wednesday and are now assisting on 65.3-percent of their field goals this season and are second in the conference averaging 13.8 assists per game. Four Cowgirls average at least 2.1 assists per game this season and are led by Muma's 2.5 a contest. Wyoming is second in the league averaging 3.9 blocks per game and ranks fourth in defensive field goal percentage (38.9-percent) and defensive 3-point percentage (28.9-percent).
Pedersen continues to lead the MW in scoring with her 16.9 points per game. In conference games, that mark is 17.2 a contest. Pedersen is third in the league in field goal percentage at 45.4-percent, as are her 1.95 3-pointers per game. Pedersen leads the conference with 138 made field goals and has vaulted into the top 10 in program history with 1,585 career points. Pedersen is 10th all time with 594 career field goals, is 11th 155 career 3-pointers and is 16th with 294 career assists. Pedersen's 123 career games played are 15th in program history.
SCOUTING COLORADO STATE
Colorado State has the best scoring margin in the Mountain West this season at plus-10.8 per game as it averages 66.4 points per game and allows a league-best 55.6 a contest. The Rams are shooting 41.7-percent from the floor and 31.7-percent from 3-point range and allow just a 36.4-percent shooting mark from their opponents and 31.3-percent from beyond-the-arc. CSU averages 11.5 assists per game and averages just 10.8 turnovers per. The Rams also force their opponents into 14.7 turnovers a contest and average 3.5 blocks per contest.
Lexus Bargesser averages 15.9 points per game and has a team-high 69 assists (3.0 per game). Four other Rams average at least eight points per game this season. Kloe Froebe is second on the team averaging 9.8 points per game and leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per contest. Hannah Ronsiek leads Colorado State with 39 steals and has a team-high 43 made 3-pointers.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST COLORADO STATE
The all-time series with the Rams is tied 58-58. The Cowgirls' 68-55 win in Fort Collins last season was their first win on the road since 2020. The two teams have split the regular season series each of the last four seasons. Wyoming has won 22 games on the road all time against CSU.
