Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 14, 2026) – It was a back-and-forth battle for 40 minutes Saturday afternoon but ultimately Boise State came away with a 56-54 win over the Wyoming Cowgirls thanks to a made layup with 14 seconds left to break a 54-54 tie.

Both teams started off cold from the floor before a Malene Pedersen fadeaway got the first points of the contest. Pedersen accounted for Wyoming's first five points. The Cowgirls led at the first media timeout, 9-4. Following the timeout, the Broncos came alive and took their first lead of the game. The rest of the quarter saw the two teams trading the lead back-and-forth before Boise State ended the frame with the final six to take a 19-16 lead after one.

The Cowgirls scored the first five points of the second quarter to reclaim the lead before the Broncos' work on the offensive glass started leading to second-chance points and the free-throw line. Boise State led 25-21 at the media. Out of the timeout, a Henna Sandvik driving layup was followed by another Bronco mini run. A Jane Rumpf 3-pointer and a Sandvik pull-up jumper to beat the buzzer got UW within one at 31-30 at halftime.

A Payton Muma 3-pointer gave the Cowgirls a brief lead toward the start of the second half before Boise State took it right back the next possession with a three-point play. Wyoming would get to within one possession a few times, but the Broncos would answer back with a hoop each time. Boise State led 41-40 at the media timeout. After the timeout, both teams bowed up defensively before a Lana Beslic layup again gave UW the lead for just one possession. Boise State stretched its lead to end the third to 49-42.

Wyoming opened the fourth with the first six points thanks to Logann Alvar and Rumpf. From there, the Broncos countered back to go back up three. After that, the Cowgirls surged in front after hoops from Beslic and Sandvik. Following a Pedersen putback layup, Boise State called a timeout with 2:52 remaining as Wyoming clung to a 54-51 lead. Out of the timeout, the Broncos buried their third 3-pointer to tie things up before reclaiming the lead with another bucket after multiple defensive stops by both teams, with just 13.7 left. The Cowgirls missed a last-second attempt to extend the game to overtime as Boise State escaped with the win.

The Cowgirls shot 35-percent from the floor (20-57) and made 7-of-25 from 3-point range while Boise State shot 33.3-percent (21-63) and made just 3-of-17 from beyond-the-arc. The Broncos shot 16 free throws, making 11 of them while Wyoming went 7-of-9 at the line. Boise State enjoyed a 12-5 advantage in second-chance points and had a 26-20 edge in points in the pain. UW outscored Boise State 8-2 in fast break points and also committed five more turnovers than the Broncos.

Sandvik recorded her first-career double-double as she led the Cowgirls with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sandvik also had a team-high four assists in the loss. Pedersen added 12 to also finish in double figures while Alvar and Rumpf added nine points apiece.

Wyoming now has its much-needed "Bye Week" as it is off until next Saturday, February 21 when Colorado State comes to town for the finale Border War with Wyoming and CSU being conference members.
