Cowgirls Hit the Road to Nevada Wednesday

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 5, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls hit the road for a Wednesday night contest at Nevada. The Cowgirls and Wolf Pack will tip at 7:30 p.m., Mountain Time.

Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming is coming off a 72-55 loss to open the New Year Saturday at home against San Diego State. Malene Pedersen and Henna Sandvik led the Cowgirls with 17 points each in the loss. Jane Rumpf, who made her first-career start Saturday, scored a career-high 11 points, hit three 3-pointers and recorded three blocks. Pedersen has led or tied for the team lead in scoring in all 13 games this season.

Pedersen, who accounts for over 32-percent of the Cowgirls' scoring this season, has scored in double figures in 33 consecutive games dating back to last season. Pedersen leads the Mountain West in scoring at 17.2 points per game, while her 19.3 points a contest in league action, also leads the way. Pedersen is second in the Mountain West in field goal percentage, shooting 47.4-percent from the field while her 42.4-percent shooting from 3-point range is third best, as are her 2.15 3-pointers made per game. Pedersen also leads Wyoming in rebounding with 3.9 boards per contest and is third with 30 assists and 11 steals.

Sandvik, who is second on the team in scoring averaging 9.2 points per game, is averaging 12.5 per contest in conference play. Lana Beslic leads UW with 35 assists while Payton Muma is second on the squad with 34 dimes. As a team, the Cowgirls are third in the league averaging 13.7 assists per game and have assisted on nearly 66-percent of its made shots. Wyoming ranks fifth in the MW in blocks (3.0) and assist-to-turnover ratio.

SCOUTING NEVADA
Nevada is one of the best defensive teams in the league this season, allowing just 57.9 points per game, a mark that ranks second-best in the Mountain West. The Wolf Pack allow opponents to shoot just 39-percent from the floor and 26.6-percent from 3-point range. Nevada is averaging 54.1 points per game and is shooting 38.5-percent overall and 20.4-percent from beyond-the-arc. The Wolf Pack are plus-two in rebounding this season and are averaging 9.6 assists per game while committing 18.2 turnovers a contest.

Reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Week Skylar Durley leads the Wolf Pack in scoring averaging 9.8 points per game and is second on the team averaging 4.9 rebounds per game. Makayla Carter's 5.6 rebounds a contest leads Nevada. Ahrray Young is second on the squad scoring 9.4 points per game and has a team-best 32 assists. Gabby Ramos leads the team with 13 made 3-pointers.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST NEVADA
Wyoming has won the last six in the series, including the last two in Reno. All time in the series, the Cowgirls are 28-9 against the Wolf Pack. In last season's lone meeting, UW rallied from 14 points down in the fourth quarter and closed the game on a 17-0 run to escape Reno with a 45-42 win.
