LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 29, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls end the month of January and look to extend their four-game winning streak with a trip to the desert for a 1 p.m., contest Saturday at Grand Canyon. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming is coming off a thrilling 47-42 comeback win Wednesday night over Fresno State to run its winning streak to four. The Cowgirls held the Bulldogs scoreless the final 3:12 of the contest and closed the final 1:22 with an 8-0 run to escape with the win. UW held Fresno State to just 22.2-percent shooting from the floor, a season-best and 1-of-17 from 3-point range. Malene Pedersen led the way with 17 points in the win while Henna Sandvik added 11.
Pedersen has now scored 10-plus points in 40 consecutive games, the fourth-longest active streak in Division I. She becomes just the fourth player in Mountain West history to score at least 10 points in 40-straight contests. For her career, Pedersen has scored 10-or-more points 89 times. Pedersen continues to lead the league in scoring with 16.7 points per game and ranks second with a 45.2-percent shooting percentage and is fifth making 1.90 3-pointers per contest.
The Cowgirls are averaging 14.1 assists per game this season, a mark that ranks third in the conference. UW has assisted on nearly 66-percent of its field goals this season and has recorded 20-plus assists, four times. Four Cowgirls are averaging at least 2.2 assists per game and are led by Payton Muma's 2.5 a contest. Muma and Aurore Eyango lead Wyoming with 20 steals this season.
UW is second in the MW averaging 3.8 blocks per contest and during league play, are averaging a league-leading 4.5 blocks per game. Jane Rumpf (1.64) and Heidur Karlsdottir (1.27) rank first and second, respectively in conference games in blocks per game. The Cowgirls rank fifth in the league in scoring defense, allowing 60.2 points per game. Wyoming holds opponents to 39.4-percent shooting from the floor (sixth-best) and 29.1-percent (fourth-best) from 3-point range.
SCOUTING GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon is averaging 66 points per game and is allowing 69.2 per contest. GCU is shooting nearly 41-percent overall from the floor and 31-percent from 3-point range. Opponents are shooting 44.3-percent from the field and 33.2-percent from beyond-the-arc. The Antelopes are plus-two in rebounding margin and are averaging 13.5 assists per game. Grand Canyon averages over three blocks per game and eight steals a contest.
Chloe Mann leads the team and is the only Antelope averaging in double figures as she enters Saturday averaging 13.1 points per game and has a team-high 32 made 3-pointers and is averaging a team-best 3.2 assists per contest. Julianna Lamendola is second on the team with 9.9 points per and leads the way with 6.2 rebounds a contest and 15 blocks. Lamendola is second on the squad with 42 assists.
