LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 26, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls look to continue their winning streak with a Wednesday night matchup with Fresno State. The Cowgirls host the Bulldogs at 6:30 and are looking to extend their three-game winning streak.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle and Jennifer Aadland on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming is coming off a 74-56 win at Utah State Saturday. The Cowgirls shot a season-high 57.4-percent from the floor and made 9-of-18 from 3-point range in the win. UW shot 27-for-40 (67.5-percent) in the game's final three quarters and scored 64 points over the last three frames. Malene Pedersen, who is now up to 39 consecutive games scoring in double figures, led the Cowgirls with 17 points. Three other Cowgirls scored in double figures in Jane Rumpf (16), Aurore Eyango (13) and Logann Alvar (12). The 13 points from Eyango are a career-best for her as she shot 6-of-7 from the floor to go along with four assists and two steals.
Rumpf was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week Monday for her performances against the Aggies last week. Rumpf averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in the two contests against USU and shot 52.9-percent from the floor and buried five 3-pointers. Since being inserted into the starting lineup seven games ago, Rumpf is averaging 11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 2.7 made 3-pointers per game. Over that stretch, Rumpf has scored in double figures four times, has recorded two double-doubles and has set a career-high in scoring and made field goals, three times.
UW ranks in the top-half of the Mountain West in eight statistical categories. The Cowgirls rank second in the league averaging 3.6 blocks per game as a team while their 14.2 assists per contest are third in the MW. Wyoming, who has recorded 20-plus assists in a game four times, has assisted on 65.7-percent of its made field goals. The Cowgirls fifth in the conference in scoring defense (61.2) and assist-to-turnover ratio (0.90).
SCOUTING FRESNO STATE
Fresno State is averaging nearly 63 points per game and is allowing just 59.6 a contest. The Bulldogs are shooting 40.1-percent, as are their opponents and are shooting 33.8-percent from 3-point range and are allowing just 28.5-percent from deep. Fresno State is plus-3.3 in rebounding and are averaging 11.2 assists per game. The Bulldogs average 10.7 steals per game and force opponents into over 20 turnovers per contest.
Emilia Long leads Fresno State averaging 13.3 points, 3.7 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Long ranks third in the MW in assists and leads the league in steals. Avery Watkins leads the Bulldogs with 5.6 rebounds per contest. Long has also made 32-of-37 at the free-throw line and shoots 36.4-percent from deep. Danae Powell and Ava Marr lead the team with 29 made 3-pointers this season with Powell hitting an impressive 42.6-percent from beyond-the-arc.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST FRESNO STATE
With its win in the first meeting this season back in December, Fresno State now leads the all-time series 23-22. The Cowgirls are 13-4 in Laramie all time against the Bulldogs and have won the last two at home. Wyoming won 62-51 in its last meeting with Fresno State in the Arena-Auditorium back in March of 2024.
