Cowgirls Travel to Logan for Round Two with Utah State

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 22, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls travel to Logan, Utah Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m., contest with Utah State. The contest will be the second meeting in a row this week between the Cowgirls and Aggies. UW won the first matchup Wednesday night in Laramie, 63-51.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Henna Sandvik scored a team-best 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting in Wyoming's win over Utah State. Malene Pedersen had 10 as she has now scored 10-plus points in 38 consecutive games. The Cowgirls scored 38 points in the paint in the win, their most against a Division I opponent this season. Wyoming reserves scored 21 on the night and were led by Aurore Eyango's career-high eight. Heidur Karlsdottir also tied a career-best with six points to go along with seven rebounds and a pair of blocks. Jane Rumpf, who only played 15 minutes because of foul trouble, scored nine points, pulled down eight boards and tied a career-high with four assists in the victory. Rumpf, who is now second in the Mountain West in blocks per game with 1.22 a contest, recorded a pair of rejections in round one against the Aggies.

Wyoming recorded 19 assists on 26 field goals Wednesday night and is now up to 13.8 assists per game as a team, fourth-best in the league and has assisted on 65.5-percent of its makes in 2025-26. The Cowgirls are up to second in the league in blocks per game with 3.7 and are averaging 6.8 as a team in their last four contests. UW also ranks in the top half of the league in free-throw percentage (72.9-percent), scoring defense (61.4), assist-to-turnover ratio (0.87), 3-point percentage defense (30.6-percent) and fouls committed per game (12.4).

Individually, Pedersen continues to lead the league in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game. She ranks fourth in the conference with a 45.1-percent field goal percentage while her 1.89 3-pointers per game ranks sixth in the MW. In conference play, Pedersen's scoring is 17 a contest while Sandvik's 11.2 per game ranks in the top 20 in the Mountain West. Lana Beslic's 2.67 assists per game in conference-only games is 10th in the league.

SCOUTING UTAH STATE
Utah State enters Saturday averaging 61.4 points per game while allowing 67 a contest. The Aggies are shooting 38.2-percent from the field and 29.2-percent from 3-point range while opponents are shooting 41.1-percent and 28.9-percent from beyond-the-arc. USU forces 16.4 turnovers per game and is averaging 11.6 assists per. Utah State is minus-6.7 in rebounding margin this season and shoots 72.4-percent at the free-throw line as a squad.

Aaliyah Gayles is averaging a team-best 12.4 points per game and is second on the team with 4.2 rebounds per game. Marina Asensio also averages in double figures with 10.8 per game and has a team-high 3.3 assists per contest and 25 made 3-pointers. Sophie Sene leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 a contest.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UTAH STATE
Wyoming leads the all-time series with the Aggies, 34-10 and has won the last six and 14-of-15 of late in the series. The Cowgirls are 13-6 all-time in Logan against Utah State, including their last loss in the series, in 2022. UW won 54-48 the last meeting on the road in the series in January of 2024.
