LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 19, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls begin "Utah State Week" Wednesday evening at 6:30 as the Utah State Aggies come to town. The Cowgirls and Aggies will meet one another in both matchups this week, with Wyoming making the return trip to Logan Saturday afternoon.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle and Jennifer Aadland on the call.
ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming is coming off a near-wire-to-wire win Saturday against Air Force in its annual Bounce Cancer Game. The Cowgirls, who only trailed at 2-0, impressed in a 67-44 win, shooting 52.4-percent from the floor and 42.9-percent from 3-point range. UW was plus-eight on the glass and held one of the league's top producers in points off turnovers to only 10 points on miscues.
Malene Pedersen scored 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting in the win, tallying her fifth 20-point outing of the season and the 14th of her career. Pedersen, who now has 86 career games scoring 10-plus points, has scored 10-or-more in 37 straight. Pedersen also scored at least 10 points, while making a 3-pointer for the 25th consecutive contest, extending her national-leading streak.
Jane Rumpf scored a career-high 17 points against the Falcons and hit six field goals while going 5-of-11 from beyond-the-arc. Rumpf, who recorded her second double-double of the season, pulled down a game- and career-high 12 rebounds. Since being inserted into the starting lineup five games ago, Rumpf is averaging 10.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.8 made 3-pointers per game. Over that stretch, Rumpf has scored in double figures three times, has recorded two double-doubles and has set a career-high in scoring and made field goals, three times.
Wyoming continues to do well sharing the ball, ranking fourth in the league averaging 13.5 assists per game, while assisting on 65-percent of its field goals in 2025-26. The Cowgirls have also been on a tear defensively in their last three games, averaging seven blocks per game over that stretch. For the season, UW is second in the Mountain West averaging 3.6 blocks per game. Wyoming is also in the top-half of the league in scoring defense, assist-to-turnover ratio and fouls per game. The Cowgirls commit just 12.5 fouls per contest, a mark that is best in the conference and are the sixth-fewest in the country.
SCOUTING UTAH STATE
Utah State enters Wednesday averaging 62.1 points per game while allowing 67.2 a contest. The Aggies are shooting 38.5-percent from the field and 29.6-percent from 3-point range while opponents are shooting 40.6-percent and 29.2-percent from beyond-the-arc. USU forces 16.2 turnovers per game and is averaging 11.8 assists per. Utah State is minus-6.1 in rebounding margin this season and shoots 72.3-percent at the free-throw line as a squad.
Aaliyah Gayles is averaging a team-best 12.5 points per game and is second on the team with 4.2 rebounds per game. Marina Asensio also averages in double figures with 10.8 per game and has a team-high 3.3 assists per contest and 25 made 3-pointers. Sophie Sene leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 a contest.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UTAH STATE
Wyoming leads the all-time series with the Aggies, 33-10 and has won the last five and 13-of-14 of late in the series. The Cowgirls are 17-4 against USU in Laramie and won last season's lone meeting, inside the Arena-Auditorium, 73-53 in the Mountain West-opener.
