MILLBRAE, Calif. – Cowgirls golf returns to action at the
Silicon Valley Showcase on the par-71, 6,084-yard Green Hills Country Club.
Wyoming will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round on Tuesday along with a competitive 10-team field, which features reigning champion Pepperdine, No. 30 Kansas State and Mountain West rivals Boise State and Nevada.
Stanford, the nation's top-ranked team, will also be sending players to compete as individuals.
UW's lineup is comprised of seniors
Kyla Wilde and
Meghan Vogt, junior
Sophie Spiva and freshmen
Kira Reisner and
Lucia Morelli.
"We feel very fortunate to compete on such a purest, traditional golf course," UW head coach
Josey Stender said. "It rewards confident and decisive course management, so the more we stick to our game plan the better we will score. Emphasis on managing our energy physically and mentally will also be key with the severe elevation changes on the course."
The Cowgirls are coming off an
eighth-place finish at the Thunderbird Classic in St. George, Utah, where Wilde finished tied for 21
st and
Reisner earned MW freshman of the week honors after finishing tied for 25
th.
After traveling to the Bay Area, UW will host the Cowgirl Classic April 2-3 in Maricopa, Ariz.
