ST. GEORGE, Utah – Cowgirls golf shot a 306 (+18) in the final round of the Thunderbird Invitational on Sunday to finish the 54-hole tournament tied with host Southern Utah for eighth with a score of 907 (+43).
 
Senior Kyla Wilde closed with a 73 (+1) in the final round to finish tied for 21^st at 223 (+7).  Sophomore Kira Reisner (+8) and senior Meghan Vogt (+11) finished in the top 40.
 
Vogt and freshman Lucia Morelli, who was playing as an individual, shot 75 on Sunday.
 
"I felt we played better than we scored today, unfortunately we could not get anything to drop," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "Individually, Kyla played confident today and both Meg and Lucia also had steady round."
 
Northern Arizona shot 283 in the final round to pass UC Riverside (291) for the team title with a three-round score of 871 (+7). NAU's Lizzie Neale (-3) also edged Stetson's Isaki Sakashita (-2) for the individual medal.
 
The Cowgirls will next compete at the Santa Clara Silicon Valley Showcase March 24-25 in Millbrae, Calif., before hosting the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic April 2-3 in Maricopa, Ariz.
 
"We've had a number of different girls lead the team and solid reps from the younger girls this spring," Stender said. "With a good portion of the season remaining we need to find more consistency at the bottom of our lineup."
