LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 18, 2025) – The Wyoming Cowgirls, fresh off an 83-60 Mountain West-opening win over San Jose State, will travel to face Fresno State in their first road conference contest of the season, Saturday. The Cowgirls and Bulldogs will tip at 3 p.m., Mountain Time.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming (4-6, 1-0 MW) was led by Malene Pedersen and Henna Sandvik's 21 points each in the win Wednesday night over the Spartans. The duo combined to shoot 17-of-31 from the floor and hit six 3-pointers. They become the first set of Cowgirl teammates to score 20-plus points in the same game since Pedersen and Allyson Fertig accomplished the feat last February against Air Force. It was Pedersen's 30th consecutive game scoring in double figures and the 12th 20-point game of her career. The 21 points are a career-best for Sandvik as she also added seven rebounds and five assists, both career-highs. Logann Alvar and Heidur Karlsdottir also recorded career-highs with seven rebounds each in the win. Lana Beslic and Jane Rumpf led the Cowgirl bench with eight points each.

The Cowgirls recorded a season-high 23 assists against SJSU, marking the third time this season that UW has tallied 20-plus assists in a game. On the season, the Cowgirls rank second in the Mountain West averaging 14.2 assists per game and have assisted on nearly 65-percent of their made field goals. Wyoming ranks fourth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.94), as well as defensive 3-point percentage, allowing opponents to shoot just 28.3-percent from beyond-the-arc. UW remains fifth in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 59.5 points per contest.

With her 21-point outing, Pedersen is now up to 16.8 points per game this season, which ranks second in the MW, as does her 51.2-percent shooting from the floor. Pedersen leads the conference and is ninth in the nation hitting an even 50-percent of her shots from 3-point range. She is third in the league with 65 made field goals and has led or tied for the team lead in scoring for the Cowgirls in all 10 games this season. Payton Muma leads the Brown & Gold in assists, averaging 2.9 a game and also has a team-best 15 steals. Lana Beslic's 4.3 rebounds a contest, paces Wyoming in that category.

SCOUTING FRESNO STATE
Fresno State has a defensive mindset, much like the Cowgirls. The Bulldogs average 62.4 points per game and allow just 57.8 a contest. Fresno State shoots 40.5-percent from the floor and nearly 34-percent from 3-point range. Bulldog opponents are shooting 40.2-percent and just 26.7-percent from beyond-the-arc. Fresno State is nearly plus-two on the boards and is averaging 12.3 assists per game and forces its opponents into 3.4 more turnovers per contest. The Bulldogs average 11.5 steals per game.

Ashlyn Rean leads Fresno State in scoring (12.7) and rebounding (7.0), but has not played since late November. Emilia Long is averaging 12.3 points per game and has a team-best 43 assists and 37 steals this season. Ava Marr, who has been named the league's Freshman of the Week three times this season, leads the Bulldogs with 20 made 3-pointers. Danae Powell, meanwhile, is second on the team with 15 made threes and is shooting 45.5-percent from 3-point range.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST FRESNO STATE
The all-time series with Fresno State is tied at 22-22. The Cowgirls have won seven straight and 9-of-10 of late in the series. Wyoming has won the last three meetings in Fresno, including last season's meeting. The Cowgirls defeated the Bulldogs 57-45 in last season's Mountain West Tournament Semifinals.
