SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Nov. 14, 2025) – The Cowboys finish 10th while the Cowgirls take 12th at the NCAA Mountain Regional in Salt Lake City, Friday.

"There were quite a few things that happened that were out of the ordinary," said head coach Scott Dahlberg. "Both crews fought hard and ran tough."

COWBOYS
The Cowboys finished in 10th with 291 points as the scoring five went 16-46-47-88-96. The team ran an average time of 32:11 in the 10k and held a 5-man gap of 3:26.

Senior Jacob White crossed the line first for the Cowboys with a 16th-place finish in 30:27.8. White saw his highest place at the 5k mark, where he was in 5th before slowly losing ground to the likes of New Mexico, BYU and Northern Arizona.

White becomes the first cross country runner to lead Wyoming in four straight years at the Mountain Regional. Through his four years running at the NCAA Regionals, he has placed 29th, 36th, 19th and now 16th.

Seniors Mathis Chavand and Ryker Holtzen finished within a tenth of a second for 46th and 47th overall, respectively. Chavand opened the race in second at the first split and stayed within the Top 5 until the 5k mark. He would then fall after a quick start to the 40s and finished with a time of 31:34.0.

Holtzen ran a similar race to White, peaking at 11th at the halfway mark. He would drop the most following the 7.4-kilometer split from 35th to the 40s and would cross the finish line at 31:34.1.

Finishing fourth for the Cowboys was senior Mac Zastrow with a time of 33:22.5 for 88th. Zastrow ran a consistent race since the 5k split, staying within 10 places. He rose as high as 56 to start the 10k but fell to 80s at the 7.4k split.

Redshirt-freshman Tanner Brown grabbed the last scoring position for the Cowboys when he added 95 points and crossed the line 96th. Brown fell into 100th following the halfway mark but fought back four places to secure the 10th-place finish for Wyoming.

Sophomore Nolan Hoffman was just one place out of the Cowboy Top 5, crossing the line 97th. He also had to fight for a double-digit placement after crossing the 2.4k split in 104th. He would get all the way to 90th before finishing out at 97 with a personal-best time of 33:59.0.

The last finisher for Wyoming was junior Aidan Ramsey, crossing the line 113th. With a time of 35:13.6, he couldn't get his way out of the 100s from the 3k mark on and fell at nearly every split.

While the Cowboys didn't improve from their sixth-place finish in 2024, White, the team in all four years, improved his finish by three places.

COWGIRLS
As a team, the Cowgirls placed 12th in the regional 6k with 324 points. Their scoring five went 50-66-69-70-73 with an average time of 22:19 and a team gap of just 41 seconds.

Sophomore Muriel Jones led the women for the first time since the Roy Griak Invitational in 50th. With a time of 21:50.5, Jones added 50 team points. She improved her race position at each split, rising 14 places throughout the 6k.

Next for the Cowgirls was junior Brionna Holso in 66th with a time of 22:21.1. She peaked at 57th place at the halfway mark before losing ground to 60s in the final 3k.

Finishing third and fourth for Wyoming were graduate Marina Trave and senior Rozlyn Slichko, crossing the line back-to-back. Trave ran a time of 22:23.1 for 69th while Slichko finished at 22:25.0 for 70th. Trave improved from the 3k mark on, rising seven places to the finish, and Slichko rose four places in the final kilometer.

Sophomore Hanan Aldelemy closed out the Cowgirl scoring five with her placement of 73rd. She only ever strayed one place from 73 throughout the race, earning the team 72 points towards their final score.

While the Cowgirls equaled their placement from a year ago, they vastly improved in where their scoring five landed. In 2024, the first Cowgirl to cross the finish was in 52nd while the last scorer finished 90th.

The next finisher for Wyoming was senior Libby Berryhill with a time of 22:43.4. She finished in 81st after falling from the 60s and 70s in the first two splits.

Redshirt-freshman Claire Engelhardt did not finish the 6k race after leading Wyoming. The last split she crossed was at the 5k mark, where she was in 41st place with a time of 18:08.7.

The New Mexico and BYU women's teams finish Top 2, earning the automatic bid from the Mountain Regional.
