CALIFORNIA — The University of Wyoming Track and Field Teams competed in California across three different meets on Thursday April 13th. With the distance crew split between the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational and the rest of the team at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, the Pokes turned in numerous impressive performances on the first of three days out west.
Mt. SAC Relays
- Ryker Holtzen moves into the UW 3000M Steeplechase record books at No. 10 with a run of 8:52.68. Holtzen placed ninth at Mt. Sac in the Elite race at the relays. Seth Bruxvoort ran a 9:24.32 to finish in 13th.
- Abigail Whitman and Eowyn Dalbec in the 10000. Dalbec caps off the day with a third place finish in her heat of the 10K and breaks into the UW record books at No. 5 all-time with a time of 34:55.41. Whitman comes in at 14th place running a time of 35:37.60
Bryan Clay Invitational
- Katelyn Mitchem and Anna Spear took to the track at the Bryan Clay in the 3000M Steeplechase. Mitchem, coming into the race with the third best time in the nation in the event, turned in a 9:56.82 to take ninth place. Spear ran a 10:50.60 to finish 79th in a stacked field.
Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State University
- Caige McComb ran a 14.62 in the 110M Hurdles to finish 16th.
- Haley Esser ran a 1:00.28 in the 400M to finish 38th in the field.
- Jaymison Cox notched a top-10 finish in the 400M running a 48.52 to take eighth place. Darius Wiggins took 15th in the same event with his time of 48.82.
- Jaheim Ferguson and Carson Kaminski with a pair of top-10 finishes for the Pokes as the duo ran 54.88 and 54.96 to take eighth and ninth respectively.
- Kaitlyn Disbrow threw 117-7 in the Javelin to take 24th.
- Cosette Stellern goes 146-6 in the Discus and finishes in 40th place.
- Tarique George went 177-0 in the men's Discus to lock in 14th place.
- Cameron Burkett throws 56-4.75 to finish in 11th in the Shot Put.
- Sadie McMullen jumps 18-9.25 in the Long Jump for an 11th place finish.
- Kareem Mersal notches a top-3 finish for the Pokes as he takes third in the Long Jump with a mark of 24-11.
- Aumni Ashby falls just shy of her personal best, the school record, in the Triple Jump as the senior takes first place in the event with a jump of 40-7.75. Elayna Chafee takes seventh with a mark of 39-0.25.
- Jefferson Danso goes 45-5 to secure of a top-10 spot in the Triple Jump.
- Samuel Schneider ties for 8th in the High Jump reaching a mark of 6-7.
The Cowboys and Cowboys will be back at it tomorrow with another day of action in California.
