MILLBRAE, Calif. (April 10, 2023) – The Cowgirls got play under way at the highly competitive Silicon Valley Showcase on Monday at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, California.
Jadan Gonzalez paced the Cowgirls through the opening two rounds finishing the day tied for 29
th.
"This is a great, challenging golf course that demands all aspects of your game to be on. Unfortunately, we had a few too many errant mistakes that are severely penalizing in this layout." Head Women's Golf Coach
Josey Stender said, "Really solid day for Jadan. She managed the course well and even left a few putts out there."
Gonzalez had her best round of the day in the second round shooting a 77 (+5) on her way to finishing with a total score of 155 (+13) sitting in a tie for 29
th with one round left to play. Amongst the field, Gonzalez is currently tied with Stanford's Megha Ganne who is ranked 19
th in the country.
Samantha Hui capped off her day in a tie for 38
th with a two-round total of 159 (+17).
Morgan Ryan wrapped up her day just behind Hui in a tie for 40
th with a two-round total of 160 (+18). Rounding out the Cowgirl lineup,
Grace Dunkleberger finished the day in 48
th after posting first round score of 76 (+5).
As a team, the Cowgirls currently sit in ninth with a total score of 632 (+64) seven strokes behind eighth place Seattle. No. 1 ranked Stanford currently leads the team race with a score of 570 (+2) while No. 25 Pepperdine sits in second with a score of 571 (+3).
The Cowgirls will wrap up the tournament tomorrow with the final round of action set to tee off at 9:30 a.m. MT.
