SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl golf squad battled through adverse conditions on Monday at the Causeway Invitational making it through one round of play at the Del Paso Country Club. After multiple weather delay's, play was stopped due to darkness with a majority of the field only completing one to three holes of the second round. 
 
"We had a three-hour break around the nine-hole mark. Then another 45-minute wait later on. Really a mental grind in tough, cold and wet conditions" Head Women's Golf Coach Josey Stender said, "Meghan played very well and very patient all day and Morgan and Jadan touched it out when we needed them too. We are not sure what tomorrow will bring with the weather so we need to be ready either way."
 
Despite the rain and stoppages, Meghan Vogt finished the day in the top 25 sitting in a tie for 25^th shooting a 75 (+3) in the first round. Jadan Gonzalez Wrapped up the day just behind Vogt in a tie for 34^th with a score of 77 (+5). Morgan Ryan wrapped up her day with a score of 79 (+7) to sit in a tie for 54^th after one round of play. Rounding out the Cowgirl lineup, Samantha Hui and Sophie Spiva finished the first round of play tied for 62^ndand 70^th respectively. 
 
As a team, the Cowgirls finished the day in 12^th with a score of 324 (+27) just three strokes ahead of CSU-Bakersfield. Washington currently leads the team race with a first round total of 292 (+4) while BYU sits ion second with a score of 295 (+7). 
 
Due to the weather delays, the second round of play will continue tomorrow morning and is set to tee off at 9 a.m. MT. The third round of play has been cancelled, 36 holes must be completed to make the event official. If the second round cannot be finished the event will be cancelled.
