Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - (Sept. 18, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirl golf squad kicked off play at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational on Sunday completing the first round of action. After the 18 holes of competition the Cowgirls sit in a tie for 11^th with a score of 295 (+11).
 
"We had a solid game plan coming into today. I felt that the girls did a great job of playing aggressive when they needed to and rebounding when they had a tough previous hole." Head Women's Gold Coach Josey Stender said, "I challenged each player to make a minimum of three birdies and we ended up with the second most birdies in the field today which is very exciting. I am proud of how they played today and am looking forward to building off of this start."  
 
Samantha Hui paced the Cowgirls in the first round shooting a 73 (+2) to finish the day tied for 24^th. The trio of Kyla Wilde, Jadan Gonzalez and Morgan Ryan all finished the first round tied for 35^th with a score of 74 (+3). Rounding out the Cowgirl lineup is Rachel Stoinski who posted a first round score of 78 (+7) and currently sits in a tie for 80^th.
 
As a team, the Cowgirls wrapped up the day with a score of 295 (+11) and are currently tied for 11^th with CSU-Fullerton while both teams sit just one stroke ahead of Northern Illinois and Cincinnati. After one round of play, Sacramento State leads the team race with a score of 284 (E), two strokes ahead of second place Oral Roberts. 
 
The Cowgirls will continue play tomorrow with the second round set to tee off at 9:00 a.m. MT and will then wrap up the tournament with the third round of play on Tuesday.
