Nevada Outlasts Cowgirls in Five Sets

RENO, Nev. (Nov. 3, 2022) – For the second time this season the Wyoming Cowgirls were bested in five sets by Nevada as the Wolf Pack outlasted the Cowgirls Thursday evening on the road. Set scores went 27-25, 23-25, 19-25, 25-21 and 9-15. The loss was just the second on the road this season for Wyoming during Mountain West action.

Despite recording 11 more points than Nevada (78-67) and 15 more kills (66-51), the Cowgirls (10-15, 6-7 MW) hit .197 in the loss while Nevada hit .200. The Wolf Pack's big advantage came at the service line as they had a 6-5 margin in service aces but committed 10 fewer (18-8) serving errors. Nevada also out-blocked UW, 10-7 in the match.

Individually, there were three Cowgirls in double-figure kills, led by Naya Shimé's 19. KC McMahon and Tierney Barlow added 12 and 11 kills, respectively while Barlow hit .375 on the night. Barlow also added a pair of blocks and service aces in the loss.

Defensively, Sarah Holcomb led Wyoming with four total blocks while in the back row, Hailey Zuroske had 14 digs. The Cowgirls were led in digs by Kasia Partyka's 16. Partyka, who also led the way with three aces in the match, had a match-high 50 assists to go along with three kills and three block assists. With the 50 assists and 16 digs, it marked Partyka's team-leading 10th double-double of the season. It was also the fourth time in 2022 that Partyka tallied 50-or-more assists in a match.

UW continues its road week and looks to bounce back Saturday at San Jose State.
