NEW ORLEANS, La. — Eight University of Wyoming Track & Field student-athletes were named 2021 USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. Hunter Brown, Kareem Mersal, William Nolan, Colton Paller, Kirk Unland, Mary Carbee, Addison Henry and Sadie McMullen all earned the honors. In addition to the student athletes both teams earned the honor for their efforts in the classroom.
For the Cowboys, Mersal, Nolan, Unland and Paller all locked up the honors by competing in the NCAA West Prelims in their respective events while also holding a 3.25 cumulative GPA.
Paller would go on to compete in the discus at the NCAA Championships where he earned First-Team All-American Honors with a seventh place finish to cap off his tremendous season.
Competing in both long jump and high jump, Brown earned his honors through the indoor season where he finished the season ranked in the top 96 in his individual events to lock up All-Academic Status.
For the Cowgirls, Carbee and McMullen both qualified for the NCAA West Prelims competing in the Hammer Throw and Long Jump respectively. It was the first time either Cowgirl had qualified for the NCAA West Prelims.
Henry shined during the indoor season, competing in both the shot put and weight throw finishing in the top six in every event she competed in during the season. She also moved up to seventh on the UW All-Time top ten list with a mark of 49-1.
