CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Colton Paller and Kirk Unland suited up for the University of Wyoming Track & Field teams on Friday night at the Virginia Challenge Meet. The two Cowboy throwers both made the finals of their top-rated events, Paller in the Discus and Unland in the Hammer Throw.

Paller took fifth place in the Discus with a mark of 182-7. Heading in to the meet, the Cowboy senior ranked 18th in the country with his throw of 187-6 which he made two weekends ago in Fort Collins, Colo., at the Doug Max Invitational. The field saw seven of the top-eight finishers set personal bests while the winner set the meet record.

Unland went 203-2 in the Hammer Throw for a 6th-place finish in the event. The Cowboy junior who has won four competitions this year is ranked 35th best in the country in the event heading into this weekend with his top throw of 211-8 coming last weekend at the CU Invitational in Boulder, Colo.

"They both competed well", said Assistant Coach Carrie Lane. "Their marks were a little short but it was beneficial to get out here. To make finals against solid competition is always a good step forward."

Up next on the schedule for Paller, Unland, and the rest of the Wyoming Track and Field teams is the Jack Christiansen Invitational next weekend, April 24th, hosted by Colorado State.
