Cowboy Golfers Return to Action March 8-10 at the Lamkin San Diego Classic

After having a two-week break in action, the Wyoming Cowboy golf team will return to tournament play on Monday, March 8 at the Lamkin San Diego Classic, hosted by San Diego State.  The Aztecs will host the event at the San Diego Country Club.  The tournament will be played over three days, Monday-Wednesday, March 8-10, with an 18-hole round to be played each day.

    •The tournament field will feature 20 teams, including four teams ranked in the Top 50 of the most recent Golfstat rankings (March 2, 2021).  San Diego State is ranked No. 20, New Mexico No. 22, Kansas No. 26 and USC No. 46.

   •Of the 20 teams competing, seven will be Mountain West teams (Air Force, Colorado State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, San Jose State and Wyoming).
 
   •A total of four Pac-12 teams will also be in the tournament field (Colorado, UCLA, USC and Washington).

Sophomores Severin and Edeen Have Enjoyed Hot Starts to the 2021 Spring Season 
    
    •Tyler Severin and Jared Edeen both have enjoyed strong starts to the 2021 spring golf season.  Severin posted a 12th-place finish in The Prestige to open Wyoming's season, and Edeen finished 19th in Wyoming's own Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in the second tournament of the spring for the Pokes.
  
    •Severin fired a 214 (+1) on the Greg Norman PGA West course in La Quinta, Calif.  He leads the Cowboys in stroke average through two tournaments, averaging 72.67 strokes per round. 

    •Edeen shot a 217 (+1) at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.  He is averaging 73.17 strokes through the first six rounds of the season to rank second. 

    •For Severin, it was the sixth Top 25 finish of his college career, while for Edeen it was his first career Top 25 finish in a college tournament.
