Laramie, Wyo. (Feb. 4, 2021) – The Cowboys are set to host their final two home duals of the season on Saturday morning in the UniWyo Sports Complex. The Pokes will start the day by facing conference foe No.20 West Virginia at 10 a.m. MT. Once that dual concludes Wyoming will face No.8 Arizona State at 11:45 a.m. MT. 
 
Last weekend the Cowboys picked up their second dual win of the season with a 22-9 victory of conference opponent Air Force. Stephen Buchanan helped Wyoming to pull away in the dual having the only bonus point win on the night with a 16-3 major decision over Kayne Hutchinson (AF). Job Greenwood ended the dual on a high point for the Cowboys upsetting No.15 Jared Van Vleet with a last second takedown. 
 
"West Virginia is a conference opponent and a Top 20 team so we need to be ready to fight hard out there.  Conference seeding as well as NCAA Qualification will be at stake and we have them at 7220'!  What else can you ask for?" Said Head Coach Mark Branch "If you can't get fired up for that, then you're not a competitor.  We need to start fast and put them in a wrestling match in that first minute and then see how they adapt to our altitude.  Altitude is only an advantage if you make them battle for the entire match.  With Air Force last week, we started too slow.  Hopefully we will come out a different animal this week."  
 
West Virginia will come into the weekend with a 5-2 record on the season and a 1-1 record in the Big 12 conference, their latest win being a 25-11 victory over Northern Colorado last weekend. When the Cowboys and Mountaineers met last season in Morgantown, West Virginia walked away with a very tight 17-16 victory. 
 
"This weekend is a great opportunity and also a great example of what this season has been like." Head Coach Branch said "Originally we had West Virginia on the schedule but Arizona State called just over a week ago and asked to jump in on our event because they have had a few weeks of competition disrupted due to COVID-19, so we said sure, let's make it happen.  It's been a crazy season but to be able to add a Top 10 team to our last home date is really amazing."
 
The Pokes and Sun Devils have seen each other once already this season at the UVU Round Robin Tournament, but they have not met in a dual since 1999. No.8 Arizona State is undefeated on the season with wins over Arkansas Little Rock and No.20 Oklahoma.
