LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 11, 2021) – Nine individuals from the Cowgirl Swimming Team will compete this weekend at the First Chance Meet in Denver. The two-day event is scheduled to begin on Friday at 3 p.m. at the El Pomar Natatorium. There will be seven events the first day and six on Saturday.
The competitors scheduled to participate are juniors
Molly Green and
Rachel Pietsch, sophomores
Claire Becker,
Sarah Owens,
Jocelyn Petersen and
Olivia Staver and freshmen
Madeline Bane,
Lana Jeter and
Zoe Robison.
Pietsch will compete in the 50 and 100 free plus the 100 butterfly. She has career-best time of 25.30 in the 50 free, 55.16 in the 100 free and has a season-best 1:01.56 in the 100 fly. Green will go in the 100 backstroke, 50 and 100 free. Her best marks are 1:00.23, 25.68 and 55.22, respectively. Becker will participate in the 500 and 1650 freestyle plus the 400 IM. She has a season-best time of 5:25.20 in the 500 and 4:51.00 in the 400 IM.
Owens and Petersen will both go in the 100 back, 50 and 100 freestyle. This season, Owens has top marks of 25.84 in the 50 free, 57.15 in the 100 free and 1:03.99. Petersen has posted times of 25.89 in the 50 free, 58.78 in the 100 free and 1:03:40 in the backstroke. Staver, who will compete in the 50, 200 and 500 free, has turned in season-best times of 1:57.80 in the 200 free and 5:30.11 in the 500 free.
Bane is scheduled for to compete in the 50 and 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Her season-top times in the freestyle are 24.56 and 55.01, while in the 100 fly she is seventh with a time of 59.99. Jeter will go in three freestyle events for the weekend. She has a season top-times of 26.58 in the 50 free, 58.31 in the 100 free and 2:08.82 in the 200 free. Robison is scheduled to go in the 100 and 200 breaststroke plus the 200 IM. She has a career-best mark of 2:29.69 in the 200 breaststroke and season-best times of 1:08.97 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:18.02 in the IM.
