Laramie, Wyo.  (Oct. 5, 2021) --  For Wyoming Cowboys Kirby Coe-Kirkham and Jared Edeen it was a good week at the University of Denver Paintbrush Invitational.  Both Cowboys recorded their best tournament finishes of the 2021 fall season on Tuesday.  Coe-Kirkham tied for 13th with a 54-hole total of 224 (+8).  Edeen, playing as an individual, shot a three-round total of 226 (+10) and tied for 22nd.
 
For Coe-Kirkham, it was his second Top 25 finish of the season and 13th of his career.  Edeen notched his first Top 25 finish of 2021 and the second of his career.
 
As a team, the Cowboys concluded a challenging week finishing 11th in the field of 11 teams, shooting a 923 (+59) tournament total.
 
"Kirby (Coe-Kirkham) and Jared (Edeen) had nice tournaments," said Joe Jensen, UW Director of Golf.  "They both played three solid rounds on a difficult golf course. 
 
"We got off to a good start this morning, but we struggled on the back nine.  As a team, we had to count some big scores that in a normal tournament we wouldn't.  That made it difficult for us to make any kind of move in the final  round.
 
"We've played four tournaments over the past three weeks.  Now we'll have about three weeks before our final tournament of the fall, so that will give us an opportunity to work on our games.  I like this group, and they've shown they can compete against top teams this fall."
 
Wyoming placed fifth in two of its five tournaments this fall.  In addition to finishing fifth out of 17 teams at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, UW  also placed fifth out of 21 teams at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.
 
The Paintbrush Invitational was played at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colo., and was hosted by the University of Denver.  The course measured 7,513 yards and played to a par of 72.
 
The final fall tournament for the Cowboys will be the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational in Manoa, Hawai'i, Oct. 29-31.
