LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 13, 2021) – Both men's and women's swimming and diving programs will continue the season on the road this week. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will take on the Air Force Falcons beginning at 5 p.m. MT in Colorado Springs. On Saturday, both squads will continue action with another dual meet with the Falcons and the BYU Cougars. The men are scheduled for 9 a.m. followed by the women at 12 p.m.

"The team is ready to race this weekend," head coach Dave Denniston said. "Our men have our rivalry against AFA that will be scored. We also have several women ready to race some new events against the Falcons. Anyone from Wyoming know the significance of competing against BYU. This is a rare opportunity and something we are looking forward to. I think there will be several close races that will be fun to watch."

Air Force will be the men's first official meet of the season. Last time out, the Falcons finished first at the Air Force Invite. Earlier in December, the two teams competed in a non-team scoring event. On the men's side, the Falcons went 9-4 overall in dual action a season ago and took home the Western Athletic Conference Championship title. The last time the two met was Oct. 18, 2019 with the Cowboys coming out on top 159-141. For Cowgirls, they are 3-0 in dual action with wins over Air Force, Colorado State and Northern Colorado.  The Falcons are currently 5-3 in dual action and lost the UNC Bears 120-104 last time out. UW earned a 165-135 against Air Force in December.

The BYU diving teams participated at the Utah Diving Invite this past weekend, while the swimming teams competed in a time trial event against Utah. The women are 1-0 in dual action with a win over Dixie State, 238-46. The last time the two programs met was Jan. 22, 2011 when both were members of the Mountain West. For the men, the Cougars defeated the Cowboys 177-123, while the women dropped a 188-112 contest.

Following this week's meets, both teams will be off until Friday, Jan. 22, when they will face the Denver Pioneers.
