FT. COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 23, 2019) – The Wyoming women's golf team sits in fourth place after the first two rounds at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic in Ft. Collins, wrapping up the first 36 holes with a 25-over 601 on Monday.

Four of the five Cowgirls in the Wyoming lineup sit in the top 30 individually after the first day of play led by sophomore Cristiana Ciasca, who is tied for 15th. New Mexico State leads the field at 13-over with a 589, followed by Sam Houston State (+23, 599) and Colorado State (+23, 599) with Wyoming (+25, 601) in fourth.  San Francisco rounds out the top five (+31, 607). Dominique Galloway is the clubhouse leader with a 1-under 143 followed by Lexi Perry of Boise State and Abbi Fleiner of Northern Colorado who are even-144.

"Overall, it was a really solid day for the team," head coach Josey Stender said. "The course plays very firm and fast. I felt like we did a great job managing it. We are not that far out of a really strong finish but we will need to be competitive from top to bottom."

Ciasca was the low Cowgirl on the team's first day and sits in a tie for 15th.  She started off with a 6-over 78 to begin the day. She responded with three birdies on the back nine of the second round to post a 1-under 71 for a combined total of 5-over 149.

Sophomore Samantha Hui was solid in her play with a 6-over 78 and followed it up with an even par-72 second round. She is currently tied for 18th with a 6-over 150. Junior Caitlyn Skavdahl follows in a tie for 23rd. She had season best rounds of 76 and 75 for a combined score of 7-over 151.

Senior Erin Sargent was solid with a first round score of 1-over 73 and followed it up with a 7-over 79. She is currently tied for 27th at 8-over heading into tomorrow. Sophomore Michelle Nguyen heads into Tuesday in a tie for 49th with a 15-over 159 on the day. After shooting an opening round 5-over 77, she had a tough second round of 10-over 82.

Along with the five players in the lineup, Wyoming has three Cowgirls competing as individuals this week. Freshman Morgan Ryan turned in an 4-over 76 for her first round and followed it up with 7-over 79 to sit in a tie for 35th at 11-over. Fellow freshman Jessica Zapf shot an opening round of 9-over 81, while shooting a second round of 8-over 80. Senior Kaylee Knadler enters tomorrow in 65th with a combined 19-over 163.
