LARAMIE, Wyo. (January 31, 2019) – The Wyoming track & field teams are set to compete in a pair of meets this weekend, sending some distance runners to the sea-level track in Seattle for the Husky Classic, and other competitors to the brand new Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas, for the Texas Tech Shootout.
Both events are scheduled to run Friday, Feb. 8 through Saturday, Feb. 9. A full schedule of both meets is available on GoWyo.com.
"I feel like, as a whole, we've gotten better each week since we got back from break," said head track & field coach
Bryan Berryhill. "We were in a really good spot in December for our home meet, and I feel like we're getting back there now. This is a big weekend. We send our distance runners out to Washington, where it's known for some really good performances, and those guys are ready to run fast. We'll send a lot of our power events down to Texas Tech. They have a brand new facility down there. I haven't been there personally, but from what I hear, it's one of the best in the country."
The Husky Classic will feature many of the premier distance runners in the country.
Daniel Hintz will run in the mile,
Michael Downey,
Harry Ewing and
Jonah Henry will compete in the 3,000-meter run, and
Christopher Henry and
Paul Roberts will race in the 5,000m run. Henry is coming off a school-record 3,000m performance at the Colorado Invite where Roberts recorded the fourth-best time in school history during the same race.
