"The kids really dug hard today," said
Joe Jensen, UW Director of Golf. "For Kirby (Coe-Kirkham) to finish in the Top 10 of this field is a great accomplishment. I'm also really proud of the way Dan (Starzinski) and Carl (Underwood) finished up in the final round, both shooting rounds of 68 to help us move up one more spot into 11th.
"We had a goal to finish under par as a team at this event, and we were able to do that. We wanted to see how we stacked up against this nationally-ranked field, and I think we proved to ourselves that we are capable of competing with some of the top teams in the country. We played in the same foursome as Clemson and Georgia today, two nationally-ranked teams, and that was a great experience for our guys.
"This was a good way for us to finish up a positive fall season. Now we'll take some time off before jumping back into competition in February."
Of the 10 teams that finished ahead of the Cowboys at the Ka'anapali Classic eight were ranked among the Top 50 teams in the nation entering the tournament. Team Champion Oklahoma was ranked No. 5.
