LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 3, 2019) – The Wyoming swimming squads will travel to Denver to compete in the DU relays this Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will go up against Adams State, Colorado School of Mines and host school Denver.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will return to action after hosting their annual Brown and Gold meet last Friday. The gold team would take the victory 314-264 over the brown team.

"The DU Relays is just a fun meet. It's exciting because it's racing in a way we don't typically see in a regular meet. It brings you back to the roots of why a lot of these athletes do this sport. It's fun to get up and race," head coach Dave Denniston said. "This is more of a team concept and you have two or three athletes that you're with behind the blocks trying to beat another team."

The DU Relays will be a change of pace as the meet will consist of only relay races and will also consist of unique races that the Cowboys and Cowgirls will not see the rest of the season. The meet events include: the 200 medley relay, 3x500 freestyle relay, 3x100 butterfly relay, 3x100 backstroke relay, 3x100 breaststroke relay, 4x25 freestyle relay, 3x100 IM relay, 500 crescendo relay, 4x25 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

Last season, both squads finished second at the event as the Cowboys finished ahead of the Colorado School of Mines while the Cowgirls placed above the Colorado School of Mines and Western State.

For the Cowgirls, Lainee Jones, Katelyn Blattner and Daniella Luna Roca were part of the 3x300 yard free relay that took first place last season. For the Cowboys, Seth Borgert, Jacob Harlan and Ryan Netzel finished first in the same event.

Following the DU Relays, the Cowgirls will travel to Idaho to take on Mountain West foe Boise State on Friday, Oct. 11th while the Cowboys will get some time off before hosting Air Force on Friday, Oct. 18th.
