BOULDER CITY, Nev. (Oct. 27, 2019) – The Wyoming golf team opened up the first day of the Las Vegas Collegiate on Sunday.
Junior
Caitlyn Skavdahl was the low Cowgirl on the day. She shot a 3-over 75 to finish with a season best score. Skavdahl sits in a tie for 13
th. She was followed by senior
Kaylee Knadler who shot a season-best four over 76 which is tied for 18
th.
"The conditions were very tough today with anywhere from a 2-4 club wind so we really had to grind it out," head coach
Josey Stender said. "I'm so proud of the upperclassmen and their confident, calculated play to lead us."
Fellow senior
Erin Sargent was solid with a six over 78 and will enter tomorrow in a tie for 42
nd.
Cristiana Ciasca shot a 12-over 84 followed by fellow sophomore
Michelle Nguyen with a 14-over 86.
San Francisco leads the field at eight over 296, followed closely by South Dakota State (+9, 297). Long Beach State and UNLV are tied for third at 13-over 301 while Fresno State rounds out the top five at 18 over 306. Elisa Saska of UNLV is the clubhouse leader with a 3-unver 69 followed by Brigette Thibault at 2-unver 70 of Fresno State.
The teams will continue play tomorrow at the par 6,277 par 72 course at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. It will be a shotgun start with a 9 a.m. MT start.
