LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 31, 2019) – The University of Wyoming men's and women's diving teams head to Colorado Springs for the Air Force Invite over the weekend. Wyoming will compete against Air Force, Boise State, BYU, California Baptist, Colorado Mesa, Colorado State, Denver, New Mexico State, and Utah.
Competition will start at 10 a.m. MT on Friday, with the men's and women's 3-meter. The action will continue again the following day beginning at 9 a.m. with the men's and women's platform.
Last week, the University of Wyoming diving team competed against UNLV in Las Vegas. Senior
Ryan Russi came home with a first place finish in the 1-meter with a score of 291.08 along with the runner-up spot in the 3-meter. While freshman
Brendan Byrnes followed with a second-place finish on the 1-meter board with a season-high score of 259.65. He also recorded a season-best in the 3-meter with a 284.30 mark.
For the Cowgirls, senior
CeeJay Harris put up an impressive performance with a first-place finish on the 1-meter board scoring 263.93. Fellow senior
Peyton GrandPre would also place for the Cowgirls in the 1-meter event scoring 245.70 to secure a third place spot. On the 3-meter board, GrandPre and freshman
McKenna Houlihan earned second and third place for UW posting scores of 273.30 and 271.80, respectively.
Following the Air Force Invite, the University of Wyoming women's swimming and diving teams will prepare for the Mountain West Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Minneapolis.
