SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Wyoming men's golf is tied for 24th after the first 18 holes of The Goodwin from TPC Harding Park. The Cowboys shot a team score of 298 (+14) on Thursday afternoon to tie with Utah.
Wyoming was -1 as a team after completing the front nine, but a tough stretch of holes on the back nine set the Pokes back. Sophomore
Dan Starzinski led UW on Thursday with a round of 73 (+2). Senior
Glenn Workman finished the front nine at -2 after logging two birdies and an eagle on his last three holes. Workman was one of only eight competitors to record an eagle in the opening round. He would go on the finish with a round of 76 (+5).
Junior
John Murdock shot even par through 17 holes, before a triple bogey on the par-4 18th left him with a round of 74 (+3). Senior
Drew McCullough logged an opening round of 75 (+4), while senior
Arron Lickteig finished the day with a 78 (+7).
Starzinski is tied for 61st in the 135-player field. Murdock is tied for 75th while McCullough is tied for 89th. Workman sits tied for 106th and Lickteig finished Thursday tied for 119th.
As a team, the Cowboys played the par-5 holes at six under par, tied for second best of any team in the 26-team field.
The Pokes will begin teeing off at 1:25 p.m. MT tomorrow afternoon, once again paired with Washington and UC Davis. Follow the link above for live results throughout the day.
