TUCSON (March 25, 2018) – Wyoming battled through the final round on a difficult course Sunday at the MountainView Collegiate Invitational, finishing in 15th place with a third-round 304 (+16). After UW's best round of the tournament, the Cowgirls concluded the event with a three-day total 928 (+64).

"We played much better today as a team and overall battled through tough conditions and illness this tournament," Cowgirl head coach Josey Stender said. "Our thorn in our side has been big numbers all spring. When we eliminated those we won so we know what were are capable of. We have another quick turnaround this week before we host so we will put a lot of effort into our short game and getting healthy."

Senior Gabrielle Gibson was the top finisher for the Brown and Gold after her 75 (+3) in the closing round. It put her into a tie for 45th at 229 (+13) and not only became the fifth time she has led UW this year, but second in a row. Gibson's three-round total was also the second-best of her spring season.

Sophomore Erin Sargent and junior Megan Knadler moved into a tie for 58th on Sunday. They each carded a three-round total of 233 (+17). Sargent posted UW's best round on the final day with a 74 (+2), as Knadler signed for a 76 (+4). Skavdahl came in at tied for 73rd after a final mark of 79 (+7) for the MoutainView Collegiate. She totaled 239 (+23) in Tucson.

Junior Sarah Hankins bounced back with a 79 (+7) on Sunday to complete the event. She notched a 54-hole total of 256 (+40) to finish tied for 79th.

Taking home the team honors was No. 10 Illinois. The Fighting Illini shot a 283 (-5) during the last round and finished with an 875 (+11). San Jose State came in second with an 884 (+20), as Missouri was one shot back of the Spartans for third. The individual medalist was Abegail Arevalo or Kansas. Arevalo fired a 213 (-3) for the win. Tristyn Nowlin of Illinois came in second two shots back.
