Ryan Russi finished first and second on the men's three-meter Wednesday evening, helping the Cowboys get out to an early lead at the 2018 Western Athletic Conference Championships.

Elijah Chan all qualified for the final after finishing in the top eight of the prelims earlier on Wednesday. In the final, Mullin scored a season-best 349.50 to claim the conference title in the three-meter for the first time in his UW career. Last season, Mullin finished second in the three-meter before going on to place first in the one-meter and platform.
Russi placed second with a mark of 329.40, his highest career finish in any event at the WAC Championships. Chan placed eighth with a score of 253.35, just three points shy of a personal best.
The Cowboys would bookend the evening session with third-place finishes in both the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays. In the 200 medley relay, the team of senior

Kyle White clocked a time of 1:27.51, a tenth of a second off second-place Air Force's time.

Jack Herron set a mark of 6:30.24, more than 10 seconds faster than their previous season best.
With the first day of action in the books, the Cowboys lead the pack with a team total of 121 points. Air Force follows close behind with 103 points, just ahead of third-place Grand Canyon with 100 points. UNLV (93), CSU Bakersfield (65) and Seattle (52) round out the rest of the conference.
